As part of the Cultural Olympiad, the Théâtre de la Ville and the Théâtre du Châtelet are offering a special program of art and sport to coincide with the Fête de la Musique, from June 21st to 23rd.
This year, the City of Paris has entrusted internationally renowned artists such as Claire Tancons, Mohammed El Khatib, Benjamin Millepied and Raymond Depardon to bring the Cultural Olympiad to life. Having already started in April, their task is to take over Parisian public spaces during festivities and events. In addition to these major unifying events, the City of Paris will be setting up festive sites in every arrondissement throughout the summer as part of the "Paris fête les Jeux" program. With event broadcasts, sports classes, shows and free entertainment, Parisians and visitors from all over the world will experience Parisian fervor.
From June 21st to 23rd, the Théâtre de la Ville and the Théâtre du Châtelet will be offering a tailor-made program to punctuate this festive weekend:
- The Théâtre du Châtelet takes us on a joyful, fraternal world tour with Danses des cinq continents, a show featuring six amateur traditional dance groups who have kept the musical and choreographic practices of their countries and regions of origin alive (South America, Burundi, Armenia, Japan, France, Polynesia).
- On the Place du Châtelet, the Théâtre de la Ville will present an expanded version of Mohamed El Khatib's play Stadium, with 53 FC Lens supporters giving spectators a taste of in the overexcited atmosphere of a soccer match, and paying a powerful tribute to the beautiful game and all those who dedicate their lives to it.
Both shows will end with a festive finale on Place du Châtelet, featuring the Stadium brass band and the Batuc'ados de Colombes.
At the same time, the Better Call So agency will be setting up the Labyrinthe des Jeux, a fun, offbeat course accessible for all, on the Place du Châtelet, with sporting challenges for all ages.
