Exile and democracy inspire an original project initiated by the Carreau du Temple where dance, sound and music making and stories of exiled women meet from June 22nd to 23rd.
This year, the City of Paris has entrusted internationally renowned artists such as Claire Tancons, Mohammed El Khatib, Benjamin Millepied and Raymond Depardon to bring the Cultural Olympiad to life. Having already started in April, their task is to take over Parisian public spaces during festivities and events. In addition to these major unifying events, the City of Paris will be setting up festive sites in every arrondissement throughout the summer as part of the "Paris fête les Jeux" program. With event broadcasts, sports classes, shows and free entertainment, Parisians and visitors from all over the world will experience Parisian fervor.
Paris is a welcoming city in which many men and women have found refuge. Behind the Line is about how exile and democracy inspired an original project where dance, sound creation, music and the testimonies of exiled women meet. A rising French pop star, an urban culture choreographer and an actor have all participated in this project. Meeting up with citizens allows these artists to reinvent their creative process, crossing cultures and borders.
The vocal and musical talents of Malik Djoudi will meet Anne Nguyen's urban dancing in the Carreau du Temple's main hall. The latter works at the Carreau du Temple with four dancers from her company "Enfants des Collines" and four young break-dancers from a small village in Benin.
