"La Terrasse des Jeux", an emblematic festival site in the heart of Paris

Located on the Hôtel de Ville square, the "Terrasse des Jeux" will be one of the highlights of the summer. Labeled a "Club 2024" site by the Paris 2024 organizing committee, it is uniquely positioned as a venue for both festivities and competitions. This will enable as many residents and visitors as possible to celebrate the Games together, free of charge. It kicks off on July 14th, with the arrival of the Olympic Flame, then from July 20th to September 8th, 2024 continuously.

Bringing the best of Paris to residents and visitors

To involve as many people as possible in the event, "La Terrasse des Jeux" will start during in the run-up to the competition and continue in between the Olympic and Paralympic Games:

The site will be able to accommodate up to 2,500 people simultaneously, and exceptionally, up to 6,000 for the July 14th event.
Thanks to an elevated deck dedicated to relaxation and catering, the site also offers a privileged view of Paris: sunset over the Seine, booksellers, Parisian heritage and monuments, notably Notre-Dame-de-Paris.
Site assembling is scheduled to start at the end of June 2024, with dismantling scheduled for September 20, 2024.

"La Terrasse": a true sporting and cultural festival

Everyone can enjoy the Games in their own way, thanks to :
  • two giant screens with live broadcasts of competitions
  • six sports and para-sports facilities, including two multi-sports fields, a dojo, a 5-a-side pitch, an athletics track and a climbing wall
  • a main stage featuring a daily mix of sporting, artistic, musical and cultural performances
  • a dedicated discussion group promoting local activities, raising public awareness of social and environmental issues and help people discover Paris through cooking or recycling workshops, accessible board games and quizzes.
Activities for all age groups
To liven up the "Terrasse des Jeux" on the Hôtel de Ville square, the City of Paris will rely on Parisian and Ile-de-France contributors to enrich its sports and cultural programming and showcase its talents and structures: Carreau du Temple, Chambre des Métiers et de l'Artisanat, Fier Play, Ligue Île-de-France Rugby, Ancuisine, Compagnie Break Dance Crew Paris, Pétancoeurs, Paris Université Club, Moove Toi, Pilates Booty, Si Si La Paillette and many others.
Designed to appeal to the widest possible audience, the program features activities for all ages, including a children's zone, physical activities for the disabled and activities for senior citizens. A number of French and international athletes and ambassadors will also be joining in the festivities to celebrate the Games with the general public.
Games highlights at "La Terrasse"
In addition to the rich cultural and sporting program at "La Terrasse des Jeux", there will be several major Games related highlights, all free of charge:
- the arrival of the Olympic Torch Relay on the evening of July 14th
- the start of the legendary men's Olympic Marathon on the morning of August 10th, and the women's Marathon on August 11th at 8 a.m., with the route open to spectators, free of charge
- the start of the Marathon Pour Tous and the 10km on the evening of August 10th, two free competitions open to the general public. The course will follow the same route as the one run by Olympic athletes earlier in the day - a first in the history of the Olympic Games!
- the 80th anniversary ball of the Liberation of Paris on August 24th
- the arrival of the Paralympic Flames on August 28th

A new standard for sustainable events

Driven by the City of Paris' ambition to reduce the environmental impact of sporting events and in particular that of the Paris 2024 Games, the "Terrasse des Jeux" intends to set new standards with:
  • More than 90% of our food offer to be of French origin, half of which is local (within 250 km) and organic.
  • Food for everyone (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal)
  • Nearly 1,500m2 of shaded areas on the "Terrasse des Jeux" i.e. 1/3 of the square
  • 1,500 hours of work experience in cleaning and maintenance trades
  • Reusable catering containers
  • 50m2 dedicated to raising awareness spaces
  • No goodies or flyers distributed on sitec
  • City's electricity grid to supply 100% of power
  • 16 free and accessible water taps
  • Reuse of materials and purchases made on site by local associations and structures after the event
  • No single-use plastics
Accessible to all:
  • A guaranteed quality of experience for as many people as possible, thanks to Paris's experience of hosting major events in recent years.
  • Offering adapted physical activities
  • Using syllabic chord keyboards
  • Braille signage
  • Collaborating with six major disability associations who have been working with the City of Paris for the past 2 years
