This year, the City of Paris has entrusted internationally renowned artists such as Claire Tancons, Mohammed El Khatib, Benjamin Millepied and Raymond Depardon to bring the Cultural Olympiad to life. Having already started in April, their task is to take over Parisian public spaces during festivities and events. In addition to these major unifying events, the City of Paris will be setting up festive sites in every arrondissement throughout the summer as part of the "Paris fête les Jeux" program. With event broadcasts, sports classes, shows and free entertainment, Parisians and visitors from all over the world will experience Parisian fervor.
The Théâtre du Rond-Point is celebrating the arrival of the Olympic Games with a special three day weekend:
- June 28th: the Théâtre du Rond-Point will light up Paris just like the Olympic torch, collaborating with a host of artists, athletes and authors from different continents. Texts, manifestos, musical readings; everyone will be able to recount their sporting experiences in their own words and in their own language. A committed presence, to ensure that the Olympic Flame can fuel hope for peace and fraternity.
- June 29th: in the theater gardens, a break-dancing battle featuring sixteen dancers, dueling it ou over a selection of music played live by a DJ. A jury of three professionals will decide the winner. This breathtaking show will be hosted by a professional announcer!
- June 29th: A performance by Sidney Pin of the Compagnie La Volte-cirque at the Rond-Point gardens. Half swinging trapeze and half Russian bar, the Balançoire Géante features an acrobat attempting to spin on a 12-meter-high swinging apparatus. The show is also half improvised and feels like a circus show, an aerial acrobatics workshop and a session at the shrink's all at once!
