Take a trip without leaving the 10th arrondissement with Zalindê's wonderful musicians. Good humor and a change of scenery guaranteed!
The "batucada" movement emerged 20 years ago, first in Paris and then throughout France. This movement draws its inspiration fromBrazilian carnival music, which stands out for its rhythmic force, capable of drawing all audiences into a collective dance.
In an environment where drummers and percussionists are still predominantly male, women have succeeded in appropriating the "batucada" movement to bring their own vision of percussive music, as exemplified by the Zalindê batucada, who will bring the Grange-aux-Belles/Agnes Tirop physical education ground to the rhythm of song, dance and drums!
This atypical group draws its inspiration from Bahian groove, pernambuco syncopation and Carioca sambodrome, fusing them into a joyful blend enriched by a host of mixed influences: jazz, African, South American and North African music. And to celebrate the80th anniversary of the Liberation of Paris, on August 25, 2024, it will give special pride of place to the great Josephine Baker !
Zalindê is a professional all-female Afro-Brazilian percussion orchestra, considered the pioneer of women's batucadas in France and Europe. The association is based on rue des Petites Écuries in the 10th arrondissement.
