Paris 2024 has unveiled the two courses for the triathlon events at the Olympic Games (men's and women's individual events; mixed relay) and the course for the para-triathlon events at the Paralympic Games. These courses, particularly challenging from a sporting perspective, will weave through the most stunning monuments of Paris. They will start at the foot of the Alexandre III bridge (8th arrondissement).
The Alexandre III Bridge, an iconic landmark for Paris 2024, connecting the Invalides to the Grand Palais, will pulsate with the energy of the Games. Throughout the competition, a pontoon with a 1,000-seat grandstand will provide a central vantage point for watching the events. From here, spectators will be able to watch the start and finish of the races, as well as the transition zone (between sports), for a breathtaking spectacle.
Individual events will take place on July 30 and 31, 2024, starting at 8 am. The mixed relay event will take place a week later, on August 5, 2024, at 8 a.m. One month later, on September 1 and 2, the Paralympic Games events will benefit from the same exceptional setting.
Some of Paris's most beautiful monuments and landmarks will be featured. After their swim in the Seine, athletes will have the opportunity to see the Grand Palais, Petit Palais, Assemblée Nationale, Musée d'Orsay, Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Avenue Montaigne, Quais d'Orsay, Quais Anatole France and Boulevard Saint-Germain on the cycling or running course.
As with all Paris 2024 road events, this will also be an opportunity for the public to support and cheer the athletes along the route and celebrate the Games in a festive and popular atmosphere, in the heart of Paris.

The course will be technical, with its own specific features that we can't wait to discover at this summer's test event.

Scenic and urban to magnify the athletes and their performances

As Léonie Périault, three-time world champion in the mixed relay, puts it: "It's bound to be a special moment at the Olympics. Having the chance to perform at home, in a picture-postcard setting, makes you want to do it! We can't wait. We'll be relying heavily on the French public and supporters to create a crazy atmosphere all along the course and help us go for the medals. The course will be technical, with its own specific features that we can't wait to discover at this summer's test event".
Because Paris 2024 has chosen to offer selective and technical courses from a sporting point of view, while guaranteeing the safety of the athletes. Scenic and urban, fast-paced and dynamic, these courses will provide the ideal backdrop to the competition, conducive to suspense. They have also been designed with a view to minimizing the impact on the environment (street furniture, resurfacing, etc.).
These three courses will be tested during the test events organized by Paris 2024 from August 17 to 20, 2023, as part of international triathlon and para-triathlon competitions, offering a dress rehearsal for the Games at exactly the same venues.
In addition to the triathlon and para-triathlon events, the site, located in the immediate vicinity of other competition venues such as the Place de la Concorde, the Arena Champ-de-Mars and the Eiffel Tower Stadium, will also host the marathon swimming events and the finishes of the men's and women's road cycling time trials.
