In Paris, most traffic lights are equipped with audible beacons that tell visually impaired people the name of the street and whether or not they can cross. To reach a wider audience, the City of Paris will provide visitors with remote controls to activate these lights during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In addition, some traffic lights will be temporarily equipped with English-French bilingual beacons.

How to acquire and return a remote control?

You will soon be able to pick up your remote control at one of the following locations for the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

How does it work?

There are two ways to use these remote controls:
  • To trigger the beacon yourself when you wish to cross, briefly press the button;
  • To trigger the beacons automatically when you're nearby, press and hold the button.
When you hear the music, you can cross.
When you hear the message "red pedestrian" or "red pedestrian, don't walk", you must wait.
