A ceremony without precedent took place, marking a first in Olympic history: the Opening Ceremony was held on the Seine, not within a stadium. Spanning 6 kilometres from the Quai d'Austerlitz to the Eiffel Tower, the parade consisted of 85 boats, showcased 3,000 dancers, and attracted 300,000 spectators, all gathered to witness an extraordinary spectacle conceived by director Thomas Jolly.
