The artist will create a portrait in tribute to Marielle Franco, after whom the garden on rue d'Alsace (10th arrondissement) is named. The portrait will form part of a fresco to be created by local residents in the run-up to the flame's arrival.
It may come as a surprise to some, but Mathilde Guegan claims to be a "total neophyte" when it comes to sport. As chance would have it, she had to work on dance and soccer during her training at the École nationale des arts décoratifs. Convinced of the power of drawing and painting, she makes herself useful by putting herself at the service of sport for all. " Sport is the Other, it's a way of getting out of the art world, out of the gallery," she confides. Involved alongside the Gay Games in 2018, she is creating a wall in the 10th arrondissement for the Women's World Cup in France in 2019 and customizing a mixed and inclusive table soccer for the 10th arrondissement town hall, which is used as an educational tool by neighborhood centers. Since 2022, she has been promoting Alice Milliat and other women who have left their mark on Olympic history.
