Spend a morning at the Terrasse des Jeux, located in front of the Hôtel de Ville, where you can engage in double dutch, play flag soccer, or explore wheelchair basketball. A vibrant sporting atmosphere is assured, complete with misters for your comfort!

Double dutch

"Jump, and now turn around!" On the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville, the skipping ropes are spinning. Welcome to the Terrasse des Jeux double dutch workshop! "Double dutch originated in the United States within the Dutch community", Lamia, a member of the Saint-Ouen club and the session leader, explains. You don't need to be extremely athletic to begin: "If you can jump, you can play. The key is to jump consistently, alone or with a partner!"

Discover flag football

Have you heard of flag football? This variation of American football is a non contact sport. "In fact, contact is forbidden. It's more reassuring for parents," Alexis, player and referee explains, "you play in shorts and a T-shirt, so there's no need for protective gear, and the game is played five against five". A confidential sport in France, flag soccer should soon win over new enthusiasts: it will be offered at the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028. At La Terrasse, three exercises (running, passing and shooting) are used to familiarize players with the discipline.
Fancy a game of football? Children can look forward to a wheelchair basketball demonstration located just a few meters from the flag football field. Further on, a climbing wall and a mini-basketball court give the youngest visitors a chance to get some exercise. "It's great fun for kids!" enthuses a Parisian woman discovering the spaces with her two sons.

A photo shoot to finish!

A few meters further on, a staircase takes you to a terrace overlooking the Seine. Here, an artist completes a fresco of a female fencer fighting in the streets of Paris. The terrace is also the ideal spot for a souvenir: a photo booth lets you take your shots home with you. A Parisian, who has just had a photo taken, enthuses: "It's great, it makes a souvenir to take home!"
